29 Palms Annual Weed Show
Workshop
October 13, 2012

The Twentynine Palms Historical Society is again offering Weed Show participants who want to gain a competitive edge the opportunity to attend a free workshop to learn how to create eye-catching arrangements.
The Historical Society's annual Weed Show, featuring one-of-a-kind compositions and arrangements using dried native vegetation and natural and man-made found objects, is held at the Old Schoolhouse Museum, 6760 National Park Drive, the first full weekend of November, drawing participants from across the Morongo Basin and attendees from across Southern California, the United States, and even the world.
This year's show, themed "Music Valley," is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 3 and 4.

Award-winning Weed Show veterans Larry Bowden, Marilyn Fernald and Pat Rimmington have teamed up for the workshop, which will run from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 13 at the museum.
Fernald and Rimmington will teach adults the art of composing and arranging while Bowden shows children how it's done. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
After the workshop, docents also will be on hand to conduct tours of the museum, housed in the community's historic original schoolhouse.
Though walk-ins are welcome, seating for the workshop is limited. Those who have reserved a seat will have priority. For more information or to reserve a seat, call (760) 367-2452.
The theme, rules, and categories for the 2012 Weed Show are posted here.
